Time for a slice of what we find delightful about visiting places that are someone else’s home.
We had just arrived back in Turkey, and had only a one-hour car transport between the airport (at Dalaman), and the marina. We knew citrus was in high season and that there were many fruit stands along the highway, so we asked our driver if he would please stop at one so we could by some oranges.

As we had guessed, the driver had a particular stand in mind, tended by an older woman. The driver stopped and helped us negotiate our purchase of mandarins, juicing oranges, navel oranges and lemons (no scurvy on this boat!). We did not share a mutual language with the shopkeeper but we indicated our appreciation of the quality of her produce, paid and thanked her, and returned to the car.
Next thing we new, the proprietor asked the the driver to wait, and carefully juiced several oranges. Each of us was treated to a cup of the sweetest, most wonderful fresh juice ever.
