One week back on Quintessa, and we’re still at the dock. That is not necessarily a bad thing; last time we boarded we took off like a rocket and it didn’t end well. This time we have had long days for fixing things, flushing things, rigging things, cleaning things, installing things, lubricating dry things, drying wet things, turning things on, turning things off, assembling things, locating things, organizing things, testing things, inflating things and of course, checking things off of lists. On a good day, we find more things than we lose and fix more things than we break. And yes, it is true that every task takes three times as long as you expect it to. I am happy to report that while each day brings a few bumps and bruises, we are each in possession of all of our digits.
Renting a car the first few days meant we got to see bits of northern Sardinia as we chased down boat parts and provisions. This island is rocky and beautiful, with mountains, rugged coastline, grapevines, sheep, ancient buildings, and people who are proud of their land. As you can see in the photos, we are enjoying mild weather in the shelter the deep harbor of Santa Teresa di Gallura.
