Second Breakfast

Something about the sea always makes you hungry, and some of our mornings start a little too quickly to include a good breakfast. This particular morning we decided to rise early and walk to the farmer’s market in Trogir, Croatia. The market was the best we’ve been to, due to the quality and nature what we found there; both the produce and the other goods were truly local products rather than the ubiquitous imported wares that show up at many markets. Because we went early, local folks were shopping, including at the fish market, where gifts from the sea included skates, eels, octopus, shrimp of every size, and many a creature we didn’t know the name of.

Our return walk to Quintessa was circuitous, thanks to the fascinating narrow streets of old Trogir (a UNESCO heritage site) and the opportunity to watch a couple of superyachts disengage from the town dock and set sail.

All this to say we returned to the boat and found ourselves unable to face the chores ahead due to being ravenous. Hangry is not a pretty look, so it was time to rummage up Second Breakfast, consisting of leftover French toast and very fresh fruit. And if that doesn’t hold us off until lunch, we can always scrounge for Elevensies

    1. Hi Suan! I have fun writing the posts, but there never seems to be time. We have used up our 90 days in the EU. Non-residents have to leave for 90 days before returning, so we will spend June, July, and August in Oregon. Maybe we can go for a walk sometime?
